This policy explains what personal information Bookronix LLC collects when you use this website or our mail-in repair service, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Bookronix LLC is a Delaware limited liability company that provides a mail-in repair service for Apple MacBook computers. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, Bookronix LLC is the controller of the personal data described here. For the purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Bookronix LLC is a business that collects the categories of personal information set out below.

Privacy questions and requests go to [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge a request within a few working days and to complete it within the time the applicable law allows.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what your parcel and machine reveal, and what the website records.

• Contact details you provide: your name, email address, telephone number, and the shipping and billing address you give us.
• Repair details: the MacBook model, serial number, the fault you describe, photographs taken at intake and at dispatch, the diagnosis, the parts used and the work performed.
• Transaction details: the estimate, the amount paid and the payment reference. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems; payments are taken through a payment provider, which handles card data under its own obligations.
• Website and device data: a small preference value stored in your browser's local storage, plus standard server logs that record the time, requested page and a coarse network identifier needed to keep the site running and secure.
• Communications: the emails and messages you exchange with our contact desks, kept so that a repair or a warranty claim can be traced.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the service is intended for adults who are able to enter a contract for a repair.

Why we use it

We use your information to respond to a quote request, open and administer a work order, collect a payment, ship a machine back to you, handle a warranty claim, comply with tax and accounting rules, and protect the service against fraud and abuse. We also use it to keep records of our own work, because a documented repair is what makes a warranty claim fair to both sides. Where the law requires a lawful basis, we rely on the performance of a contract for repair administration, on our legitimate interests for security and record-keeping, and on your consent where you have given it for a specific purpose.

Cookies and local storage

This website sets no advertising and no third-party cookies. It stores one small preference value in your browser's local storage so the cookie notice does not reappear once you have acknowledged it. The full detail is in the Cookie Policy. You can clear that value at any time from your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Sharing

We share personal information only where it is necessary to deliver the service. That means couriers and postal operators that carry your parcel, payment providers that process a transaction, and service providers that host or maintain our systems under contract. We may also disclose information where the law compels it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If that ever changed, we would update this policy and provide the opt-out described on the do not sell or share page.

International transfers

Our facility and records are in the United States. If you contact us from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another region with transfer restrictions, your information will be transferred to the United States so that we can perform the repair you asked for. Where a transfer mechanism is required, we rely on the appropriate safeguards available to us, and we limit the data to what the job actually needs.

Retention

We keep work order records for as long as needed to administer the repair and its six-month warranty, and then for the period our accountants and insurers require. Website logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymise it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights: to know what personal information we hold and to receive a copy; to correct inaccurate information; to delete information, subject to legal retention obligations; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to be free from discrimination for exercising a privacy right. California residents also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information; as explained above, we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require limitation. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act, and you may use an authorised agent where the law allows.

Security and complaints

We use access controls, network protections and staff procedures to protect the information we hold, and we train the people who handle it. No system is perfect, and if a breach affects your rights we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, write to [email protected] and we will try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority or, in California, to the California Privacy Protection Agency.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. The version in force is the one published on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will make that clear on the site.
